Differences between the Spaceships campervan options

To help you make your decision on which model to choose for your once in a life time road-trip through Australia in a Spaceships, here are the main differences between our campervans.

The Beta 2S (Premium) is our newest campervan in the fleet. All of our vehicles start their life as a Spaceship as a Beta 2S. We keep them as a Beta 2S for 2-3 years. As the Beta 2S doesn't have a back seat, you'll have 30% more space to move around, get to your stuff in the storage area or set up the bed. This gives a lot better access in and out both sides of the vehicle which is great when at campsites or when you just want to access your things in the storage compartment. The Beta 2S campervans are the newest vehicles we have so they drive better and have less wear and tear.

After 2-3 years we change the Beta 2S to a Beta (Standard). This process involves adding a back seat. This allows 4 people to be seated – it still sleeps 2 people but gives the option to travel with more people. You can hire a tent from us or others may stay in other accommodation.

After another 2-3 years as a Beta (Standard) we then downgrade this vehicle to an Alpha (Budget). It has the same layout as the Beta 2S but it is much older. They have been on the fleet for 4+ years more than the Beta 2S. This results in a lot more wear and tear on the vehicles.

Changing our vehicles through each model allows us to make sure that the quality of each model is consistent and is of value for money.

Beta 4-berth with rooftop tent - in a league of its own

The Beta 4-berth with Rooftop Tent starts it’s life straight away as a Beta 4-berth. It stays as a Beta 4-berth for 3 years and then becomes a Beta (Standard). The Beta 4-berth has 4 seats but also has a rooftop tent so up to four people can travel and sleep in this vehicle. This is a great option if travelling with more people, or if you are just travelling with someone and would prefer to have your own separate sleeping area. The roof top tent also gives you a fantastic view from up above the vehicle!

24-hour roadside service is included

Spaceships are regularly maintained and serviced however it’s important to know that if anything ever did go wrong (i.e. you leave lights on, and the battery goes flat) you have access to 24-hour roadside assistance. This service is provided by RACQ and covers covers you in all states and territories, so help will never be too far away.

Free airport transfer

Book for 21 days or more and we will pay for your transfer from the airport to our depots. Direct bookings only (booking on the official Spaceships website aka this website) and it must be organised at time of booking.

Free after-hours pick-up and drop-off (contactless)

Now you can pick up and drop off whenever it suits you best. This free service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You can select your preferred time on the online quote when booking online. See for more info about our after-hours & contactless service. It is a fully contactless and unmanned service. You will receive the pick-up instructions a day before the scheduled day of pick-up.
